The events, characters, and locations depicted in this story are fictitious. Any similarities to real people, places, or events are purely coincidental. 1: Stairway It was a curious time for forum communities; they were growing in popularity, yet were still somewhat isolated from each other. Pokemon Stairway was one such community, and to its few citizens… “Members” they were called. It was a dying place. More popular forums were on the rise, and often a new member would arrive at Stairway for only a day, and then leave for somewhere better. Pokemon Clearwater Forums was one that had been rising in popularity very quickly lately, and smaller communities couldn’t keep up with it. But large forums were intimidating to a few, and by chance one day Stairway was found by a wanderer who hadn’t settled in at any one specific forum. The wanderer was a girl who had come from the direction of the harsh northern communities. Her hair was normally blonde, as it was for most people born in that area of the Pokemon forum continent, but she had coloured it Amaranth, a shade of red named for the amaranth flower. The hair hung back at her shoulders and seemed to go unnoticed, as it had a tangle or two. The wanderer’s name, in that land at least, was Wurmple. She had chosen it because she felt that the Pokemon of that name wasn’t appreciated. And when Wurmple found that community, with its buildings an odd mix of rosy-pink and cement colours, and its streets sloping, almost empty, up the mountainside she decided to take a chance. Wurmple entered Stairway and was happy to find that Registration was a simple and quick process; she was quickly given an apartment close to the top of the community. When Wurmple arrived at her new living area, at least the one she would be at while in Stairway, she found a note in the room. The note was surprising, not because it addressed her specifically, but because it was handwritten. It looked like a sincere greeting, from someone who was happy to have a new member in the community. The note was probably written by an administrator or moderator, one of the higher ups in forum communities. Wurmple was surprised at the relaxed nature of the note; it mentioned a welcoming area for new member introductions and suggested that she go there. But added to that was a line mentioning that there was no rush and that she could come down whenever she wanted to. The note was signed: -- Snover Wurmple put the note on her table and fell backwards onto her bed, previous bad experiences had kept her out of forums, but this one seemed okay. It was a bit empty, Wurmple hoped that it wouldn’t fall into a dead state; she’d seen that happen to other forums before. So far there was nothing wrong with Pokemon Stairway, the one other citizen that she had contact with, despite only reading their message, seemed nice. Wurmple twisted her head to the right and looked out the window; the sunset shone across the pink of the buildings lower down the mountain and looked cheerful. Wurmple let her head sink into the soft bed, coloured the same pink as the community itself. The bed was comfortable… |

2: Swinub The buildings of Pokemon Stairway were dark at night; Swinub had found that unless you examined them extremely closely you couldn’t see the pink colour at all. Swinub was one of Stairway’s more senior members; he was also the Administrator, Ralts’ older brother, although he was always treated like a child by Ralts. Stairway at night was calm though, and Swinub liked it. He had learned long ago that if you sat on the Announcements building you could see across the entire community. Just across the street from the announcements building, a new member was sleeping, they were called Wurmple. Swinub wondered if that member would go to the welcoming area tomorrow. He decided that he would avoid that area for the next day or two. Crowds made Swinub feel uneasy, so he would give this member space as well, at least until they got used to the community. An owl sound-effect played in the distance. Of course there were no real animals on the entire continent. To give the land a natural sound, speakers were everywhere, playing out calls, cries, growls, and other noises. The sounds were fake though, always exactly the same as the first time you heard them. Once you knew how it was made, the sound seemed pointless and annoying. “Unh, Swinub?” A window was open across the street; another member, Numel, leaned out of it. “What are you doing up?” Numel asked, sleepily rubbing her eyes and pushing aside a strand of long brown hair. “I’m here every night” Swinub responded, his voice easily reaching her from across the empty street. “Nobody ever opens their windows though so I doubt anyone knows it.” Numel glanced down the street in the direction of Stairway’s base. “What do you do over there every night?” she asked after a few moments of saying nothing. “I watch the stars” Swinub responded, looking up at the sky. “Stars, at least those are real.” “Huh” Numel muttered, still half asleep, “What’s real?” “Forget it” Swinub responded, “You should go back to sleep anyways, you aren’t used to being up at this time.” “Mhm, I guess so” Numel said, slowly nodding her head. “Well anyways…” Numel let out a long yawn and stretched her arms above her head before letting them fall to her sides when the yawn ended. “See you tomorrow Swinub” “Yeah” Swinub responded, “Maybe if I’m around.” Numel close her window, and the curtains behind it, the weak light from the small bedside lamp in her room went out a moment later. Swinub sat looking at the sky for forty-three more minutes, and then another owl noise sounded. He stood up and walked to the building’s stairway, it was time to return home for the night. “Crumbling home…” |

Chapter 3: Milotic The peak of Pokemon Stairway could just barely be seen from Pokemon Clearwater forums. Milotic, a Global Moderator from Clearwater, watched it through his window. “That forum is a nuisance” he commented to the two other people in the room. “How so?” One of them asked, “Stairway is half-dead and falling further every day. Just leave them alone, they’ll last another month at the most.” “Another month?” Milotic asked, a hint of frustration in his voice. “Tell me Raichu… What gives them the right to last another month?” “Eh?” Raichu glanced at Milotic, “Seriously, it isn’t a big deal at all.” “They’re going to be a dead forum anyways, and yet they steal members from us” Milotic said angrily, “What could possibly give them that right?” Raichu watched Milotic silently. “I think the collapse of Pokemon Stairway could use a little bit of encouragement” Milotic said after a minute. “I agree” the other person in the room responded, “Give me a little bit of time and I bet I could come up with something good.” Milotic nodded, “Alright, I’m interested in seeing what you can come up with. Raichu stood up, “I’m going home” he said, turning towards the door. Milotic continued facing the window, “Raichu” he said. Raichu stopped at the door but didn’t turn around. “Keep your mouth shut” Milotic said. “Humph” Raichu muttered, opening the door and leaving the large apartment. “Well I’ll get going too” the other person said. Milotic stood unmoving at the window as he left. “Boring” Milotic muttered once they were gone. He twisted his finger around a strand of wispy blonde hair that had fallen in front of his eyes and tried to put it back into its place. It fell back in front of his eyes a second time and Milotic clenched his teeth. “Things would be so much easier if everyone just did what I told them to” he whispered, gripping the strand of hair. “Graaah!” Milotic tore the rebellious stand off of his head and held it loosely in his fist, staring at it for a minute. Everything did what he wanted, one way or another… Milotic threw the hair out of his open window and looked back towards Stairway. A single light went out; Milotic imagined for a moment that it was another bit of the forum’s life snuffed out. The light had actually belonged to Numel who had just finished her conversation with Swinub and went back to bed. But Milotic didn’t know that, so the Clearwater Global Moderator enjoyed his small imaginary victory. |

Chapter 4: Snover “So I have some interesting news” Corsola said to the other four members at the welcoming area. “We had a new member join last night that we’ve been looking forward to meeting, and surprisingly another new member joined us this morning!” “Well since I’m in charge of the welcoming area let me introduce myself to you two; I’m Corsola Stairway’s Moderator. The corner of Snover’s lip twitched, Corsola always did that, said he was ‘Stairway’s Moderator’ rather than ‘A Pokemon Stairway Moderator’. That slight change in words made a difference, being the one and only Moderator gave Corsola a cool image. But since he actually was the only member of Stairway with the Moderator position, Snover couldn’t really comment on it. Snover watched the Moderator grin for a moment. Corsola then adjusted his pink tuque and continued. “Our two new members are Wurmple, and Ariados.” Corsola indicated a girl and then a boy. “Let’s make them all feel welcome everyone.” “Um, incidentally…” Corsola added, “Our Administrator Ralts couldn’t be here today. Ralts is very busy you see.” Snover knew that Ralts was most likely not busy, the Admin just disappeared from time to time. “So I think I said it already, but just in case I forgot, my name is Corsola” Corsola told the new members. “Also here is Numel and Snover.” Corsola indicated to the new members who each person was. “Hey Sno, could you close up things today?” Corsola called, “I’m going to do some maintenance on the RPG.” “Sure thing” Snover responded. The new member named Wurmple approached him, “You’re Snover?” she asked, “I got your welcoming message, thanks for leaving it.” “Of course” Snover said, rubbing the back of his head, “It’s nothing really though, I just want everyone to be happy here.” Snover hadn’t expected the new member to be a girl, mainly because there had hardly been any girls at Stairway since its opening. Numel was one of them of course, right now she was trying to show Ariados a magic trick that involved pulling flags from her nose, but it wasn’t going so well. As well as Numel, there was also. Snover pushed the thought of Stairway’s other female away, more girls like that would be scary, he didn’t know why though, he just knew it’d be terrifying. However not one single girl had ever left Stairway after joining; Snover hoped that meant Wurmple would stay as well. Snover suddenly realized that he had let the conversation fall into an awkward silence while he was thinking. The other new member, Ariados, conveniently joined the conversation and drew away the attention. “Corsola mentioned an RPG” Ariados said, “I didn’t know Stairway had one.” Ariados’ eyes narrowed as if things he didn’t know frustrated him. “Well actually the RPG isn’t open” Snover said. He laughed apologetically, “We got some Pokemon for it but Stairway doesn’t really have enough people to keep something like that running.” Snover knew that Corsola kept the RPG in good shape by himself, because he hoped that one day it could be used. Ariados left their conversation as quickly as he’d arrived, Snover noticed that he had gone and turned his attention back to Wurmple. “So have you looked around Stairway yet?” Snover asked. “No” Wurmple answered. “I could show you around if you’d like” Snover offered. Wurmple nodded and then turned away from him. “Huh, are you okay?” Snover asked, “Your ears are red.” Snover hadn’t seen Wurmple’s face glow scarlet. “Okay, let’s get going then” he said. |

Chapter 5: Raichu Raichu read through some comments in a discussion about anime, the real conversation was happening in the same room but he was content to just read them. Raichu hadn’t seen any of the particular show that was being discussed at the moment, but it sounded interesting so he was lurking quietly. Raichu spotted Milotic entering the crowded room alone; Raichu noticed it was a bit odd that nobody else was with him. Milotic sat down and listened with an annoyed expression to the discussion. “Oh really? One of the younger members asked, “I never really liked that one actually.” His friend laughed, “Well the ones you watch are pretty cool too actually.” The first boy grinned, “Yeah, I guess they are! I’ve always liked them much more than your favourite one though. Milotic stood up, “You” he shouted to the first boy. The two boys looked over and Milotic indicated that the first boy should step outside. Raichu watched through the window, wondering what would happen. Milotic gave the boy a temporary ban for flaming when the boy questioned it Milotic had threatened to increase the sentence. But what really captured Raichu’s attention was Milotic’s reason. Apparently the first boy had attempted to start a flame war during the discussion of the friend’s favourite anime. Raichu realized only now that the conversation had seemed interesting because that anime was Milotic’s favourite too. But the young boy didn’t know that. The boy began to leave, looking confused. Raichu quickly made a note of the boy’s username, knowing that the ban hadn’t been deserved. Raichu quickly slipped out through the front door into the crowd on Clearwater’s main street. Milotic had come in though the back door of Anime discussion and didn’t see him. “Keep my mouth shut huh?” Raichu muttered to himself, remembering the night before. “I was the one who recommended you for the Global Moderator position” he said to nobody in particular. “Whatever I do, I’m sure it’s going to make me look bad in the end.” Raichu stepped into a PM booth and sent a message to the banned member saying that he would remove the ban. Raichu advised the member to avoid the anime area of the forum for the rest of the day though, to avoid running into Milotic. What kind of place is it where I have to tell members to beware of my fellow Moderators? Raichu wondered. |

Chapter 6: Numel Numel woke up the next morning and ate a breakfast of pizza and cookies. She yawned and found some clothes in a crumpled heap under her desk, they had been there for a week but Numel assured herself that they looked fine. Both of the newbies she’d seen yesterday had gone off before she had really been able to meet them. Ariados had seemed to vanish into thin air. Wurmple however had not vanished completely; she had gone off with Snover. Numel thought it was a bit strange that those two had been friendly to each other right away. Plus, Wurmple’s face had turned all red when Snover had offered to show her around. Numel wondered if Wurmple was allergic to Snover, but had to stay around him in order to convince him to give up the cure to the allergy. Numel stepped outside, still wondering about it and crashed into somebody. “Oh hey Ralts” Numel said, glancing up for a moment and then moving on, not questioning for a moment where their Admin had been. “Maybe my allergy theory really is true” Numel said aloud after walking for another block or two. “Huh, what theory?” Numel looked up again, the new member Ariados was standing in front of her. Ariados seemed like the type of person who always wanted to be part of every conversation. Numel smiled, it seemed like a fun trait. “Well, I was thinking that Snover infected Wurmple with a colour changing allergy” Numel explained with total confidence. “Now Wurmple is around him so much because she needs to get back the antidote before she changes colour to…” Numel thought for a moment. “Green!” She exclaimed excitedly, snapping her fingers, “Because then everyone would think she was sick!” “Uh, that’s an interesting theory” Ariados said. “By the way, I haven’t seen Stairway’s Admin around; do you know where they might be?” Numel thought back, she remembered bumping into Ralts but wasn’t sure how long ago that had been. “I think it’s been about a week since I’ve seen Ralts around” Numel said, not remembering that it had in fact only been about two minutes. “Oh, but wait…” “What is it?” Ariados asked her. “What would Snover gain from everyone thinking Wurmple was sick?” Numel asked. “Do you have any ideas?” “Is that the announcements building?” Ariados asked, pointing to the tall building at the top of Stairway. Numel nodded, “Um yeah, but…” “And that’s where the control panels are?” Ariados asked. Numel nodded, although she didn’t actually know what control panels were. “But do you have any ideas about why…” Ariados shook his head, “No I don’t have any thoughts at all about your dumb theory” he said. “But I have a different idea. Let’s play dominoes with this forum and knock it all down!” Ariados grabbed Numel and pushed her into an alley. “Lucky Numel, you get to see how Stairway will be destroyed” Ariados laughed! |

Chapter 7: Ariados Ariados quickly tied Numel up; he had been prepared with plenty of rope. “Now…” He said, pulling out a cell phone and starting to punch in somebody’s number, “Time to call everyone else in to play.” “Um, Ariados” Numel said, “Why did you tie me up? This doesn’t seem like a fun game.” Ariados ignored her. “These ropes hurt” Numel complained, “Could you please loosen them; they’re making my arm feel weird and numb.” “Be quiet!” Ariados shouted, kicking an empty pop can at Numel, causing it to bounce off her forehead. “Ah, hello” he said when someone answered the phone that he had been calling. “This is Ariados calling from Pokemon Stairway.” Ariados paused and listened for a moment. “Of course it’s time to tear this place to the ground” he said gleefully, “I’m just waiting for you to get started Milotic.” Ariados finished his conversation and hung up. “Well now Pokemon Clearwater is taking military action against Pokemon Stairway.” Ariados kneeled down next to Numel, “I’m a Global Moderator there you know, and they’re pretty angry that you people at Stairway kidnapped me.” “You!” Numel shouted angrily. “Y-You won’t” “Oh do stop talking” Ariados muttered, sticking an old rag into Numel’s mouth, gagging her. “After heroically escaping from the Pokemon Stairway member who was guarding me…” Ariados pulled Numel to her feet. “I was able to infiltrate the control panel and delete this whole place… Along with any record of me being a member here!” Ariados leaned close beside Numel, putting his face beside hers. “Thanks to you, I’m going to get in without any resistance” he said, “It’s oh so convenient for me.” Numel kicked Ariados’ knee, causing him to cry out in pain and fall to the ground. She turned to run but Ariados grabbed her leg, causing her to trip. “I hate you” he growled. “You should really be careful how you act around me Numel, because nobody will question me for causing some… damage to the person who was holding me hostage will they?” Ariados pulled Numel to her feet and then dragged her forwards into Stairway’s main street. “Bang bang bang” he laughed, “Hear that? My friends are knocking on the door.” “I wonder how many people will try to stop me” Ariados said aloud. He pulled a knife from his pocket and then pushed Numel in front of him and held the knife to the back of her neck. “Keep walking” he ordered. Ariados kept the blade against her skin, holding it just lightly enough so that it wouldn’t cut her unless he decided to apply more force. “Oh look” he said, “Now nobody’s going to try and stop me!” Ariados laughed loudly as his target, the Announcements building, grew closer. |

Chapter 8: Corsola Corsola was on the top floor of the RPG building grooming a Pidgeot when he happened to glance out of a window and notice Clearwater’s army. “No!” He shouted, knowing that the large formation of tanks and Pokemon could only be coming to attack. The bird Pokemon in the aviary panicked and began to flap their wings in alarm. “Whoa whoa! It’s okay guys!” Corsola quickly calmed each of the birds. He then ran to the PC in the room and withdrew his favourite type of Pokemon, which despite his name, was not Corsola. “Pidgeot, Blaziken, I really need your help right now” Corsola said to the two Pokemon. He climbed onto Pidgeot’s back and the Pokemon immediately flew out the window. Corsola didn’t need to tell it where to go; the Pokemon was close to him. Corsola grinned; taking care of the RPG had paid off at last! The bird Pokemon flew into the window of a tower on the RPG building. The room in the tower could only be reached through this window, it contained four special Pokemon. The four legendary golem Pokemon were here, Corsola knew that they might be able to help defend Stairway. “Blaziken go!” Corsola shouted, throwing his favourite Pokemon’s Pokeball. “Use Blaze Kick” he said, indicating a metal vault door. Blaziken struck out at the door with a fiery foot. Corsola then had Pidgeotto quickly cool the door using Whirlwind, causing the metal to crack. Corsola rode Pidgeot towards the bottom of Stairway, where the Clearwater army was attacking. He spotted a Stairway member close-to, but not quite at the bottom. Corsola landed beside them and saw that it was Wurmple. “Wurmple!” Corsola shouted, “Do you know where Snover is?” “He said he was going to be around the announcements building all day” Wurmple said. “Gah” Corsola cursed under his breath. “Listen Wurmple, I need you to go up there and get Snover, send him down here quickly okay.” Wurmple nodded. “Good” Corsola said, “I can’t fight an army by myself forever, so I’m going to need help as soon as possible.” Wurmple nodded and began to run towards the top of Pokemon Stairway. “Well this is where the RPG makes or breaks things” Wurmple muttered. “I hope I’ve worked hard enough for this.” “Go! Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regigigas!” Corsola’s four legendary Pokemon, as well as Pidgeot and Blaziken, stood ready to fight the Clearwater forces. “Guys, we need to stall them” Corsola said. The Pokemon nodded. “It’s just a matter of time before we can hit back hard, but first we have to survive that long.” Corsola glanced at Regigigas. The Pokemon’s ability Slow Start seemed to foreshadow the fight ahead. |

Chapter 9: Wurmple Wurmple ran towards the Announcements building, she reached the top of Stairway, now it was just around the corner. Wurmple almost crashed into the backs of two people, but managed to leap out of the way… and into a hiding spot before she was noticed. For some reason the other new member, Ariados, was holding a knife to Numel’s neck. “Ariados, what do you think you’re doing?” Wurmple peeked around the corner; Snover was blocking the way into the Announcements building. Ariados laughed and pushed Numel to the ground, “Why I’m clearing away a rather unnecessary forum” he said. Ariados knelt beside Numel and put the knife back against her neck, with his free hand he picked up a rock and threw it at Snover. Snover tried to deflect the rock with his hand, but missed it, the rock hit his forehead, cutting it and causing blood to pour out. Ariados laughed hysterically, “Stairway’s Global Moderator can’t even stop a simple stone! How pathetic this is, you deserve to have this place destroyed!” Wurmple crept from her hiding place. “If I can sneak up behind him quietly, then I’ll be able to get Ariados’ knife away from him” she thought. Wurmple saw Snover’s eyes widen as he noticed her. “No!” She begged in her mind, “Don’t give away my position!” “Oh, who’s this?” Ariados spun around to face her. “Well if it isn’t the other newbie.” “Looks like your own Global Mod gave you away! At Clearwater that would never happen because we’re not like this garbage forum.” “Why don’t you be a good little girl and sit down there beside Numel” Ariados said, pointing with the knife to the spot he wanted Wurmple to go to. Suddenly a foot hit Ariados’ hand at high speed, knocking the knife out of his grip and breaking his wrist. Ariados turned and saw that the foot belonged to Snover. The Stairway Global Mod followed through with the initial kick by shifting his balance to the foot he’d kicked with and bringing his other foot quickly towards Ariados’ head! Snover stopped before the kick hit. “Pathetic huh?” he asked. “You’re lucky that I decided not to break your neck with that kick!” Wurmple began to untie Numel. “By the way” she said, “Snover gave away my position because he was worried about me getting to close to the knife.” Wurmple’s eyes met Snover’s. “Isn’t that right?” she said. Snover nodded and smiled. “If I was going to let anyone jump into danger, of course it was going to be me” he said. Wurmple smiled. “That’s right; so Ariados, why don’t you be a good little boy and sit down over there.” Ariados whimpered and sat down on the street. Snover, Wurmple, and Numel tied him up with the rope that he’d bound Numel with. “By the way” Snover said, “I’m very interested in knowing why a Clearwater Global Mod did this sort of thing.” Ariados kept his mouth shot and shook his head furiously. “Oh don’t worry” Numel said, “He was nice enough to explain his whole plan to me, so I can fill you in on all the interesting details.” Ariados whimpered. |

Chapter 10: Ralts Raichu had spotted the army moving towards Stairway earlier that day and had known what to do. He had immediately accessed the Admin control panel of Clearwater, using a password entrusted to him by Suicune, the Clearwater Admin. With the Admin control panel at his fingertips, Raichu had immediately been able to find the one member of Clearwater that he needed to find. *** Corsola stood with only Registeel and Regigigas by his side, the other four Pokemon had already fallen in the battle and had been returned to their Pokeballs. Registeel had survived because of its defensive power, but wouldn’t last much longer. A tank fired a shot, hitting Registeel at that moment and knocked it out! “Regigigas, I hope you’re ready” Corsola said, “It’s all up to you!” Regigigas charged into the Clearwater army, but nets quickly began to cover it, and psychic Pokemon held it down with their power. “Ha ha! How weak this forum is!” Corsola recognized the speaker; standing on the tank that had shot Registeel was a Clearwater Global Mod, Milotic! “They send one puny Moderator to fight all of us?” Milotic laughed out loud. “I don’t know who your pathetic Admin is, but if he was a real man he’d come out here and lose to me himself!” A foot suddenly struck Milotic, kicking him forwards off the tank. Milotic rolled and saw that a girl with long blonde hair, hair that looked similar to his, was standing on what was supposed to be his spot. “A real man?” she asked, “Humph, too bad for you isn’t it.” “What!?” Milotic shouted, “You’re not telling me that you’re…” The girl nodded, “I’m the Administrator of Pokemon Stairway” she said, “I’m Ralts!” “T-T-Troops” Milotic shouted, “Get her, capture her, now!” “No” Somebody else responded. Raichu walked around the tank and stood in front of Milotic. “Milotic, you are permanently banned from Pokemon Clearwater Forums.” Milotic clenched his fist, “You can ban me just because you want to Raichu” he shouted, “Only the Admin can ban a Global Mod, you know the Clearwater rules!” “I can’t do something just because I want to?” Raichu asked, “Now tell me Milotic, what exactly have you been doing these past few days?” Milotic didn’t answer so Raichu tossed an envelope to him. “Read it” Raichu ordered. Milotic opened the letter and began to read aloud. “Milotic; for committing acts of war against another forum you are hereby stripped of your Global Moderator title and permanently banned from Pokemon Clearwater Forums.” -- Suicune “As I said” Raichu told Milotic, “You’re banned!” “Raichu!” Snover, Wurmple, and Numel reached the field dragging Ariados behind them. “You may need to talk to Suicune about some new Global Mods after this” Snover said. Raichu nodded and held up a second envelope, “Don’t worry, I was prepared to dismiss Ariados as well.” “Sounds like you’ve been banned” Numel said, leaning on Ariados’ head after he fell to his knees and began to cry. “Hey hey” Numel said, “Why don’t you stop that sobbing and tell me whose fault this is.” “Milotic’s” Ariados sniffed. “Nooooo…” Numel said, “It’s your fault for going along with it.” Ariados fell silent. “By the way Snover” Raichu said, “It’s interesting that you mentioned getting new Global Mods for Clearwater.” “Huh, why?” Snover asked. “Well, I think your Admin had an announcement to make about that.” Raichu stepped aside and Ralts faced the Stairway members. “I do have an announcement” Ralts said… |

Chapter 11: Beginnings “I’m sure you’ve all noticed that I’ve been gone a lot lately” Ralts said to the members of Stairway. “Well the reason for that is that I was visiting Pokemon Clearwater forums.” “You were at Clearwater?” Corsola asked. Ralts nodded. “You see” she said, “I’ve been working with Clearwater’s Administrator Suicune to help make the two forums affiliates!” “This project has been going on for awhile now” Raichu said, “I was the only Clearwater Staff Member other than Suicune who was working on it though.” “However Ralts became a Clearwater member to make things easier” Raichu said. “Because of that, I was able to quickly find her and let her know of the danger when Milotic started the attack. Luckily she had returned to Stairway at the time.” Raichu glanced at Milotic. “Not knowing is probably part of why Milotic had no regrets about attacking this place.” Ralts nodded, “The secrecy was perhaps not the best idea for either side. In my absence I let Stairway fall into some darkness of its own.” “But the project is finally near completion” Ralts announced. “A monorail between the two forums is being constructed, and we’ll likely be getting many new members soon!” Ralts nodded, “Of course we’re happy for members who can have fun at two different places.” “That will give them more of an opportunity to make friends and have fun” Raichu finished. Snover nodded, “That’s great” he said. “Plus, we’ll be able to provide enough help to get you RPG going to Raichu added.” Tears of joy poured down Corsola’s face, he tried to hide them by pulling his pink tuque over his eyes. “And Snover mentioned Clearwater forums needed some new people for the Global Mod position” Ralts added. “Suicune has accepted my suggestion that Swinub get the position!” Ralts glanced around. “Oh, is Swinub not here?” she asked. “I’m up here” Swinub called from the rooftop of a low building. “Ralts, thanks for recommending me, but I’m going to have to decline the position” Swinub said. “I’m also going to be leaving Pokemon Stairway.” “What?” Numel asked, “Why’s that?” “I’m starting my own forums” Swinub said, “I got the idea a few weeks ago and it’s just been building up in my head every night.” “Well then best of luck in your new forums big brother” Ralts said. Swinub nodded, “I’m going to head out now. See you around everyone.” “Bye” everyone shouted. “Goodbye Administrator Swinub” Ralts added. “Well then” Raichu said, “I’m going to have to check who the next candidate would be since Swinub declined.” Raichu turned back towards Clearwater, “I’ll talk to you guys later” he shouted as he walked away.” “Well then Stairway members” Ralts said, “I say we go party at the welcoming area!” Everyone agreed. “Hey Wurmple” Snover said, “Feel like going there with me?” “Sure” Wurmple said, hugging him. Chapter 12: Nonsensical Numel woke up underneath her bed and immediately thought it was strange that there was another chapter after the end. However Numel didn’t know what that meant so she quickly forgot about it and started her day with cucumber sticks and chocolate pudding to dip them in. The first thing Numel did after eating was visit the Announcements Building to see if there was anything new posted. There were in fact two new announcements. One was about the affiliation with Clearwater, and the other was about the RPG opening. Corsola was also reading the announcements. “Hey Corsola” Numel said, “What do you think RPG stands for?” Numel had asked him because Corsola always seemed to hang around the RPG building. “Well it stands for ‘Role Playing Game’ of course” Corsola said, “That’s because it’s a game in which you play the role of a character that is different than yourself.” “Wow, that was really well thought out” Numel exclaimed. “But what if it actually stands for something else, like ‘Radio Prize Giveaway’ and I’ve been missing chances to get prizes?” “Well I don’t think it stands for that” Corsola said, recognizing one of Numel’s moments of excitement approaching. “I’ll go check!” Numel shouted, running out of the announcements building as fast as she could and then running back inside only two minutes later. “Nope, you were right about Role Playing Game” Numel said to Corsola, “Because Stairway doesn’t have a radio station!” “We have to convince Ralts to let us start a Stairway Radio program so that we can get prizes” Numel told Corsola, “That’s your new project okay?” Corsola nodded and smiled awkwardly, but Numel didn’t notice at all. She had already left for her next destination. It was the Anime discussion room of the General Chat Building! Numel crashed into Raichu just outside of the Anime discussion room’s door. “Oh hi Raichu” she said, “What are you doing here?” “Well I just started getting into anime” Raichu said, “I don’t really feel like I’d help the conversation very much at Clearwater’s big discussion forum though.” “Snover recommended that I try here instead” Raichu explained, “He said it was really relaxed and casual most of the time.” “Oh, how has Snover been?” Numel asked, “I haven’t seen him in months!” Numel had in fact seen Snover yesterday, and every day before that for almost a month, but had forgotten about it. “Well since he’s now a Global Moderator for both Stairway and Clearwater he moves around a lot” Raichu said. “He and Wurmple are over at Clearwater right now I think.” “Wurmple!” Numel exclaimed, “Wow, I almost forgot about something important!” She ran off quickly leaving Raichu standing dazed outside the doorway wondering how exactly things were ‘relaxed’ with Numel around. Numel found Ralts at the entrance to Stairway where she and the Clearwater Admin Suicune were discussing the affiliation. “Ralts” Numel shouted excitedly, “I heard Wurmple’s with Snover!” “Yes I think so” Ralts said, “Why?” “Does that mean Snover gave up the cure to Wurmple’s colour changing allergy?” Numel asked. Ralts smiled knowingly and leaned forwards as if she was telling Numel a huge secret. “Well actually” Ralts said, “Snover did give up the cure, but he didn’t cause the allergy!” Numel gasped at the intriguing twist. “Snover was given the cure and assigned to see if Numel was worthy of it, that’s why he didn’t immediately give it up!” “It’s still a mystery who caused it though” Ralts said, “We may never find the answer.” Ralts grinned, revelling in the spontaneous romance of the made-up story. Numel lit up with excitement and spent the rest of the day filled with energy. When she made it home at night she found that she couldn’t even close her eyes to get to sleep! Numel crossed the street to the announcements building and climbed the stairs to the roof. She sat down in what had once been Swinub’s spot and looked up at the stars. An owl sound-effect played somewhere outside of Stairway. Numel knew it was fake, but was happy that there was somebody out there doing what they could to make the world an even nicer place than it already was. In the distance, lights shone around the area where the crew who would be building Pokemon Day Forums was camped out. Swinub’s Forums… Numel knew that since Swinub was building the forums nearby she would still be able to visit him whenever she wanted to. “Tomorrow, find out what happens when you write everything in all capital letters” Numel said to herself. “Let’s test it.” “GOOD NIGHT!” Numel yelled, assuming that shouting was the equivalent of tying in all capital letters. “Ugh, good night Numel” Corsola called from his room across the street, “Now go to sleep already.” Numel fell asleep on the roof of the announcements building that night. This chapter-after-the-end had been fun, even if it hadn’t meant anything at all. |
