Chapter 1:

The early morning sun rose high above the mountain tops surrounding the small village of Raylea, casting beams of bright light upon the endless stretch of land. Located in the province of Brightscale, Raylea was a quaint little village home to a tight knit group of all species. The giant mega continent of Sailiance stretched across the planet covering massive amounts of the planet.

Sailiance was home to many powerful magical species, each taking certain areas of the continent as their own claimed homeland. However times had changed the racism was mostly dispersed and all races mixed and mongled within the various provinces of Sailiance. Brightscale, Ordell, Merriton, Belbark, Eastlea, Linmere, Prynesse, Valhaven, Silverlyn and Raywynne. Each was formerly home to a different species of magical race, but as time moved forward these lines began to vanish, and the different species came together in all of the provinces.

The provincial lines still stand, but each province is home to a large variety of the magical races. But on the continent of Sailiance, the province of Brightscale in the town of Raylea something was about to occur that would alter the Magical World of Sailiance and the Technology World of Earth forever.

Everything was about to take a dramatic turn as the fate of two worlds is thrown into a flux, where nobody would be considered innocent. Nobody could have predicted what was about to occur.

(Kal)

"Sailiance was home to nine powerful elemental magic types, with eight of the nine currently being known. Water, Fire, Nature, Ice, Lightning, Earth, Light and Dark formed the current eight elements. The ninth element however was gone from the world. Nobody knew how to use it anymore, and any that managed to activate the missing element were killed by the extreme amount of energy the element required.

Twilight was the name of this element. Its power was unmatched by all of the other eight elements combined, making it incredibly powerful. However as time went on, less trained in the element because of how volatile it could be, until eventually it became forgotten, overshadowed by the easier to learn and control elements.

But the creators of Sailiance, Apokkel and Ariasa still knew the secrets of Twilight magic, but both no longer existed in the everyday lives on Sailiance. Apokkel the dark half of creation was sealed away in an orb floating far above the clouds on Sailiance, while Ariasa had vanished without a trace shortly after Apokkel was sealed away.

Apokkel had led a violent attack on the human race, trying to exterminate them all claiming they were 'tainted'. Human beings were an oddity in Sailiance, while every race was born with magic in their blood and the ability to use magic; human beings were unable to do so. They required the help of small stones, known as Elemental Shards to use magic, without these shards they were unable to use magic.

Using the strongest and most violent race, Apokkel used the Demons of Twilight to mount genocide on the Human race. But eight heroes emerged. Humans who had made weapons to fight, and created powerful Elemental Shards that gave them immense magical power that far surpassed that capable of any of the magical races. These eight stones that were made became known as the fabled Elemental Gems.

While they were incredibly powerful and effective against the Demons and their Twilight magic, Apokkel was able to swiftly decimate the rebelling Humans and push them back. They could never win, Apokkel was a god something that could never be destroyed unless another god did so. Ariasa was against violence and would not fight to destroy Apokkel. But she did do something for the Humans.

Using her incredible energy and knowledge of magic she infused the Elemental Gems with Twilight magic nearly doubling the powers they had, and adding other abilities that no being of magical empowerment could use. She then created for them the means to end this attack. The Twilight Gem, a ninth Elemental Gem infused with pure Twilight magic.

The eight humans fought back, using the newly powered up weapons and the Twilight Gem to push back and defeat the Demons and Apokkel. Knowing that his hatred towards the Human race would never end, the human beings preformed the ultimate sacrifice. Using the nine Elemental Gems the eight of them created Earth, a safe haven for the Human race to live without having to fear Apokkel. However the two planets became linked together through an invisible magical passageway known as the Twilight Realm. Nobody could open a portal to the Twilight Realm without one of the nine Elemental Gems and all nine were left within the Realm.

The eight Humans held the portal open long enough so any Humans still left alive could escape and start a new life on Earth. But Apokkel tried to follow. In a last ditch effort to stop him once and for all, the eight humans used the powerful magic they had absorbed during their battles to merge their bodies together and form a spear of energy which destroyed Apokkel's body and trapped his spirit within a sphere that now floats high in the sky, far above Sailiance.

The Demons were all banished to the Twilight Realm where they would be forever trapped for the atrocities they had committed against the Human race. When all was finally done, the Twilight portal closed the and Human race was gone forever from Sailiance, the Demon's forever trapped within the Twilight Realm and the Demon Lord Apokkel sealed away. The world was at-Oh yes Eleein?"

Eleein lowered her raised hand and cleared her throat.

"I was just curious; this is only a legend correct? But why would somebody go and make such a detailed legend such as this?" Eleein said quietly. She was a bit short for the average Tatorak, with dark red skin. Her eyes were a calming orange color, and her head spines were long and arced sharply downward giving her a regal appearance.

"Oh what a wonderful question, well have you every just imagined or created something for fun? Think of this legend as somebody's made up story meant to entertain those during the time period." Mr. Adluko stated. He was also a Tatorak, albeit a rather large one. He was tall, but fairly skinny. His leathery skin had a dark yellow color, and his eyes glowed bright red. His head spines arced up slightly, but remained otherwise short.

"Kal!" Mr. Adluko shouted suddenly, slamming his fist on my desk.

I jolted up and jarred my knee on my desk, sending it crashing to the ground. My papers and quills flew across the classroom sending most of my pupils into an uproar. Mr. Adluko just looked down at me, an iron clad cold stare sent shivers down my spine.

"Have you been paying any attention at all to my class?" he said sternly, keeping his eyes fixed upon me as I gathered up my fallen things and fixed my fallen desk.

"Uh, we were talking about the Legend of Twilight?" I said suddenly glancing at the desk beside me, catching a glimpse of the notes that had been taken.

"Hmm, that would be correct, but do tell me, what is the legend about?" he asked a small grin spread across his face, he had obviously seen my eyes glance around once.

Damnit, this isn't gonna be good.

"Umm, is it about Twilight magic, and Humans and Demons?" I asked quickly, knowing how stupid of an answer that was.

"Humph, I expected a better response than that Kal. You can stay after class for a few minutes so I can explain what you slept through. Everyone else is dismissed."

Everybody got up and began to talk with each other as they walked out of the small classroom into the hallways to head home after a long day of school. My twin brother Kala just turned and glanced at me and shook his head slowly. We were nearly twins, the only thing that made us different were our skin and eye color. His skin was a pale purple and his eyes a dark orange, while my skin was a sky blue with light green eyes. Both of our head spines were short, and went straight back without curving up or down.

"So Kal you must be wondering why I'm making such a big deal about this subject? Usually I'll let you sleep and ignore it because you always do well in my class so it doesn't bother me. But there has always been debate on this legend on whether or not its real or not. There is no evidence to suggest its real, but a small group believes that it is real. Which is why on the off chance it is real, you are supposed to know about it."

"Real? How could something so insane as this be real? That would basically be suggesting that two fictional races just entirely vanished from the world. Not all of them could simply be forced to go, some would have stayed."

"That is what makes many believe it to be false. But look at it from a different perspective. Apokkel is real and alive, and trapped within a sphere floating high in the sky. Somebody had to put him there, and this is the only story that gives any evidence as to what happened."

"So are you basically saying that you believe in this legend? That a ninth element exists, and Humans and Demons used to live in Sailiance and there is a second world parallel to our own? I find that very hard to believe even with Apokkel floating in the sky."

"Exactly my point, it just seems to...like too much effort went into creating this. Effort that nobody could have done so without some event inspiring them first off, I'm not saying the legend itself is true, but what I'm saying is a large portion of it may very well be."

"I don't think so. Something like that just seems too crazed to be real."

"Well yes I must agree with you to some amount. Anyways talk with your brother and get the notes from him and be ready for a test tomorrow on everything we've been reading on so far."

I nodded, and quickly picked up my bag and sped away from the classroom. Its dark walls gave it an enclosed cave like feel to it, and it always smelled strangely of cinnamon. But nobody could ever figure out why.

I opened the front doors of the school and stepped out into the warm sun, Kala was standing in the shade underneath a large tree waiting for me to emerge. I walked over to me, his eyes remained closed and he seemed unaware of his surroundings.

I raised my hand to flick him on the nose, when his hand raised and smacked my own away.

"Don't even. I can't believe you were sleeping again." he said sternly. His eyes remained closed the entire time.

"Hey I do well in the class what can I say? As long as I'm doing fine then there isn't a problem in my opinion."

"Maybe not for you, but as your brother its embarrassing when you do that. Couldn't you sleep in some other class that I'm not in?"

"Humph, I don't see why you find it such an issue, but alright if you really insist then I'll sleep some other class."

Kala was always ragging on me for sleeping in class. He was the excellent student, always getting good grades and going the extra mile for projects and assignments. Not to say I wasn't a good student either, I was just lazy and would do what was required and be happy with it. Kala was rather uptight taking many things seriously, and not letting himself live or be free. I on the other hand was a very carefree, and let myself go forward in life with no regrets.

The only thing I could best Kala in was battle. We both had trained to use swords since we were little kids, and each of us knew a small bit of magic, but not enough to really have it be of use to us. I was however the better sword master easily besting Kala in all of our duels.

Kala and I were new comers to the small village of Raylea, moving here shortly after our father died, away from the capital city of Norden. Kala wanted to make a good impression on the people here so he was far more harsh than usual, while I still retained my usual nature.

As the two of us walked through the small village towards our house, I couldn't shake what Mr. Adluko had said. What if Twilight magic was real? Could another world really exist parallel to our own? If it did, did they believe we were simply a legend or could they possibly not even know of our existence?

The thought though that bothered me the most was that not one, but two races had just vanished from the planet. It just all seemed too farfetched to be true. But something was tugging at the back of my mind telling myself it had to be true. Apokkel was trapped in the sky, and no other story told of how it happened. Perhaps Ariasa had simply trapped him there. It would explain why she simply vanished, she had used all of her powers to seal away her brother and protect us all.

I shook my head and pushed the thoughts away, no need to dwell on them currently. I would study for the test, pass and be done with the subject and no longer have to worry about whether Twilight was real or not. If it was real, it wouldn't change anything.

"Hey Kala how's it going?" said a light voice. Both of us turned around to see Selena. Kala's heart had to have taken a giant leap. He liked her and nearly everybody knew it, and why shouldn't he? She was incredibly smart like he was and also pretty cute, with lime green skin, and dark blue eyes, with long head spines arcing down past her shoulders.

"Umm...hey...Selena...uh...it...going...good?" Kala bumbled obviously nervous and caught unaware.

"That's good, uh I guess I'll see you around then." she said quietly and turned around and walked off.

"Smooth Kala, you just made it seem like you have no interest at all."

"Hey what do you expect me to do? I was never good with girls and she's perfect and she caught me off guard and...damnit your right."

"Aren't I always? Next time you see her just go up to her and talk. Say hi or something but don't babble or stutter. It's only going to turn her away, you have to show confidence. Oh and by the way I need your notes for the test tomorrow."

"Hmm yeah I guess your right. And this is the last time you can have my notes, you said you wouldn't sleep anymore so if you do, then prepare to fail the next few tests."

"Haha yeah very funny."

We continued our walk through the village until we reached our little house on the side of a hill. It was rather old, with a patched roof, and the rocks on the walls were chipped in many places and falling off. The door also stuck a lot because of old hinges nobody every fixed.

Inside it looked far more modern though; lightning crystal lined the walls supplying light, with a large water crystal in the basement supplying running water through the pipes. Fire crystal allowed the house to keep warm and allowed foot to be cooked. An ice crystal sat inside a small box to keep food cooled so it wouldn't get moldy.

There was a kitchen with a small table in it for three people to sit and eat a living room with four chairs, all around a table with a glass screen set up on the wall; it could be used to watch various programs broadcasting from around the province. Upstairs led to a washroom, and had two bedrooms. Kala and I shared one while our mother had the other.

It was a small house but it was all we needed for the three of us. Ever since our father had died we'd been having trouble living in a large house, which is why we moved to the small town of Raylea. Here we'd been able to make things work. Our father had died during an assassination attempt on the King of Brightscale. A rogue Tatorak trying to assassinate King Cormag had been spotted sneaking into the castle, and our father led a small band of soldiers to meet the rogue. But he was fast and killed half the squad including our father before he was killed by a powerful magic spell.

I trudged up to my room and pulled out Kala's notes and began to copy them down onto my own paper so I could prepare for the test in the morning. But my eyes quickly began to grow heavy and before I knew it, my head was on the desk and I was in a deep sleep.

Chapter 2: (Kal)

Kala and I walked along the dirt path leading into Raylea. Our house was just on the outskirts of town, but it was far enough way that we weren't considered part of the actual town, at least our house wasn't. The walk wasn't a bad one either, birds were usually flying through the air chirping and singing, the sun was normally shining brightly, and the fruit trees in the nearby orchards gave off a sweet scent around the path.

The dirt path continued out of the small town and into the large mountain range, known as the Blackmoor Peaks. The mountain range stretched across most of the western coast of Sailiance, with small breaks carved through to allow travel to the Silversea and the island province of Linmere.

Raylea was built on the inside of the mountains, but they curved in such a way the town remains fairly isolated from all other sorts of travel aside from merchants and and hunters who would merely pass through. Raylea was otherwise a very quiet and out of the way town. Many that lived within its boundaries were simply farmers looking to get away from busy city life.

We walked into town and passed familiar faces along the way, we had quickly become part of the large family that lived in Raylea. Figuratively speaking of course, everybody knew each other and cared for one another, not in the sense the entire town was literally a blood related family.

The school, which was located in the town square wasn't all that large compared to the school in Norden Kala and I had attended previously. The school in Norden had almost fifteen hundred students, while the small school in Raylea was home to about one hundred fifty, a mere tenth.

With such a small amount of students not many teachers were needed, rather than having multiple teachers for different subjects, there were fifteen teachers in total. One teacher for each of the ten school levels, and then five other teachers who taught a more wide variety of subjects for students wishing to learn more than just the basics. Kala and I took one of those classes, Mr. Adluko's History and Legends.

Unfortunately we had that class first period today, and I had fallen asleep while studying for a test. Not that I wouldn't do well, it was just I probably would do better had I had time to study or had I not fallen asleep. You'd think all the sleeping I did in class would prevent me from falling asleep while I'm studying.

Kala and I walked into the classroom, and sat in our respective seats. The bell rang throughout the school and Mr. Adluko stood up to address the class.

"While I'm sure you all had a wonderful evening and good night's rest and are ready for this test? Good luck to everybody. When I've handed out the first test no more talking."

The test was placed on my desk and I flipped it over and began to answer the questions. I could already tell this was going to be a very long day.

**********

"You must be joking? You got EVERYTHING correct?" Kala was dumbfounded at my test score. Not even he had gotten a perfect grade on the test, but I had the person who was supposed to be lazy and not be getting perfect grades on assignments, let alone tests.

Mr. Adluko had told everybody to come back at the end of the day to get the tests back, and we had all come back expecting the usual 'Oh I was busy and didn't have time' excuse he usually gave us. But this time was different and he had managed to finish marking them.

Kala and I walked out of the school in the front courtyard, where a number of large trees stood, with tables sitting in the grass to the left and right of the small dirt path leading up to the school. Kala seemed to grow rigid and nervous suddenly as we began to walk along the path. I glanced across the courtyard and saw Selena sitting at one of the tables reading a book.

"Just go talk with her, what's the worst that can happen? The worst that can happen is nothing because you stand around and do nothing! If you like her, which I know you do, don't try to deny it, then you should go talk to her." I said shoving Kala across the path into the grass.

He simply turned back and gave me a look that would probably go with the words 'What the hell are you doing! You must be crazy!' At least I could see those words being attached to his look. He turned back and slowly walked over across the grass to Selena. She looked up and him, and he just stared at her for a few moments before he opened his mouth and presumably said hello.

I was standing to far away to really hear what was being said, so I just continued walking, maybe I could find something to do in the village to distract myself from schoolwork. I turned back and gave one last look at Kala and Selena. He had taken a seat at the table and was talking with her now.

"Heh good job Kala." I muttered under my breath and began my wander around the village.

(Salifor)

Up high far above the very clouds sat a small floating stone chamber. It was a perfect square on the inside with no fancy designs on the inside or outside, the only thing that made it special was the small stone pillar, with a large perfectly smooth round stone set atop it.

The stone was blacker than night itself with a fierce shine to it that pierced the heart's of all who came near it. Evil pulsed from all around it; the stone chamber itself was battered on the inside from the immense power from within the stone. Normally the stone would be powerless, just an empty dull black stone. However the being trapped within radiated such a fierce amount of power it could still be felt from the outside of its prison.

Apokkel the demonic god of Twilight was sealed within forever trapped. However because of the immense power given off by the stone alone, it had to be kept far from the natural world where it could cause havoc among those living on the surface.

However what stopped people from flying up to the very heavens themselves to risk their lives to see the very resting place of a god? The guardian dragon Salifor. A massive golden dragon, with giant fangs and claws sharp as swords. Its firebreath was hot enough to melt diamonds, and its scales so thick no blade could pierce them.

I was in charge of guarding the stone chamber to prevent anybody from entering and speaking with Apokkel. Despite being trapped within a magical stone he was still able to speak through it and could easily manipulate the minds of the weak.

Flexing my claws I let out a snort, as the chilling night began to fall upon the tomb. Having to guard Apokkel was the greatest honor but also the greatest loneliness. The only one you can speak with is a demonic god that wishes to kill and enslave. Although he rarely spoke inside his small sphere, only in the first few months of his entombment had he spoken. For nearly fifty thousand years I had remained as his guard, forever staying here until my time came that I would finally be free.

"...."

I turned around to face the stone; I swear I had heard something, perhaps his voice. The stone just sat on the pedestal, vibrating with its evil aura. I turned back to face the night sky when I heard the noise again, this time I knew it was a voice.

"Alright speak up, I know you can talk, don't try and play games with me." I spoke, hearing my voice echo around the chamber.

"Salifor? Hmph I would have expected somebody new to have taken your place by now. How long has it been?" Apokkel's voice now rang across the chamber. It held an authoritative power to it, but retained an icy hiss. His voice was one you picture on that of a villain, it was perfectly fitting.

"I don't leave so easily Apokkel. Why do you care how long its been? You'll never see the light of day again, so it matters not how long has passed be it several months or a millennium.

"I need to know the time, because somebody I've have long been waiting for may be living on Sailiance as we speak, and I need to speak with him."

"Do you really think I would allow anybody up here? Besides not even you could predict the birth of somebody that would help you. Your request is denied."

"Ha you’re pathetic Salifor. You have no idea what kind of power I possess, don't be foolish. Besides I never said this being would help me, he knows almost nothing about me and would never help me regardless. I just wish to meet the future King of Sailiance before his reign begins."

"You must be joking, even though I have remained up here since your imprisonment; I am not out of the loop. I receive word monthly on the state of the world, and how things work and what has changed. Sailiance isn't run by a single King anymore. Each of the provinces has their own elected King or Queen. A single King over Sailiance would be neigh impossible."

"Oh you don't think I realize this? I have seen the future of this world, I know what happens. I also know that because I have seen the future I can alter it. I warn you Salifor you will soon be dead, and I will no longer be trapped within this accursed chamber. The balance of power is changing, you'll soon see. However I can change this, I can make your world a better place by telling the future King to prepare for certain things."

"Why would you want to do something that would prevent yourself from being freed from this place? You mustn't think that I would let you talk to somebody; you'll most likely be changing the future so you do become free. Once again this request is denied."

"Oh there is nothing that will prevent me from being freed from here unless the future King is killed now while he is still young. You see he will free me from my prison regardless of what happens. I will just ensure that certain things occur so he does not meet his untimely end so soon. I can arrange for your life to be spared as well if you so wish."

"Well then I suppose this traitor will need to be killed then, if anybody is to free you the entire world would plunge into chaos once again. While I do not believe a word of what you are saying I will grant your request so we will know the identity of this future king and be able to prepare more for the possibility of treason. What is the name of this traitor?"

"Kalanor Akane. Though he goes by Kala. He is a Tatorak living in the small village of Raylea in the province of Brightscale."

I simply nodded, knowing that Apokkel knew I was leaving; I needed not to state anything. I dove out of the sky flying down past the clouds until I was in the air above the province of Brightscale. I needed to first consult with the King on my mission before I proceeded but he would most likely wish to see what events unfolded.

**********

Landing in the castle courtyard I was met with a flurry of arrows and a wide assortment of weak magical spells. Apparently nobody knew who I was nowadays. I would have expected the messenger sent between Sailiance and the sky to relay information on who I was at least so if I were to suddenly land I wouldn't be met with a savage attack.

Letting out a fierce roar that knocked many soldiers back I satisfied myself by grabbing one them in my massive claw. As I brought him up to my face he merely squirmed and screamed pleading for his life to be spared.

"You must be joking mustn't you? I don't wish any of you ill; I just need to speak with the current King of Brightscale. An important matter has come up that requires his immediate attention and I mustn't delay. Now if you could quickly bring him to me that would be much appreciated."

The soldiers simply converged and started babbling amongst each other before one of them warily stepped forward to address me.

"Uh, large golden dragon, before we bring our King to speak with you. We need to know why you must speak with him."

"My name is Salifor and it will do well that you know that. I am here to discuss an important matter of possible treason and to prevent it before it starts, but because of how fragile this operation can become, I must speak with the King before I proceed." I growled towards the group of soldiers.

The soldiers conversed with each other again, before a second soldier stepped forward and agreed to bring the King to meet with me. Within a few moments a rather regal looking Tatorak had emerged from the castle walls. His skin was a deep red, with pale blue eyes. His head spines were very intricate, with the middle spine arcing up, with the left and right spines arcing down.

"Salifor, I am King Cormag, current elected King of the province of Brightscale. I hear that you have something you need to speak with of urgent importance."

"You would be correct. I have discovered a possible threat of treason to the province. But first do you know who I am?"

"Treason? That is important indeed, and how so? I know your name is Salifor, but that is all. Is there something else I should know?"

"Actually yes there is much more you should know. I am the oldest living being on this planet, for I have been alive since almost the beginning of our world. When Apokkel was sealed away by the Elemental Gems fifty thousand years ago a guard was chosen to protect his tomb from intruders. That guardian is I. Now Apokkel claims that somebody is planning treason and will free him when they do so. He has stated that he wished to tell him something that would further his rule, and would allow Apokkel to remain free longer, however I see this as a chance to meet the future traitor and stop him should this accusation be true. Of course we will have to allow the boy to meet with Apokkel to not arouse suspicion with the god."

"Hmm, this is disturbing news indeed. As the guardian of Apokkel you are awarded with my immediate trust, and so I will grant your request. Go find this child and bring him to Apokkel and listen to what they say. Try and get any hints on how the child may commit this treason. And if you don't mind me asking, what is the boy’s name?"

"Kalanor Akane. He lives within the small village of Raylea, which I believe is Southwest of my current location."

"Uh yes...Raylea is just southwest of here. Umm...good luck...and yes make sure you can prevent this...treacherous act."

With that I shot out of the courtyard the gust of wind created by my massive body moving sent a few soldiers flying through the air, landing heavily on their backs. I grinned slightly at how ignorant the world had become. King Cormag seemed to be stunned when I mentioned the Elemental Gems, as if they were some fable.

Despite the vast distance of the province, my large size and incredible flying speed allowed me to reach Raylea within the hour. A trip that would have taken an ordinary dragon at least six. The town I could see was fairly old and small; they would not be expecting anything of interest to occur in their small town.

It took only a few seconds to find Kalanor, many of the townspeople were quite compliant when I asked where he would be. I made an effort to remain high in the sky to not accidentally destroy any buildings in the small town. I soon found Kalanor sitting at a table talking with a female Tatorak.

"Kalanor I require you to come with me. Resistance will not be accepted and I will only be forced to exert my strength to bring you with me. Do you comply?"

He merely stood up and looked at me slightly seemingly confused as to who I was. Did nobody have any knowledge of who I was? He turned back and said something to the female sitting with him, and she stood up and grabbed his arm, but he looked back and shook his head, and she let go. He stepped forward and nodded.

I lowered my claw and he stepped into my hand and I shot off rather quickly, flying straight up into the sky. I needed to pick up enough speed if I wanted to break through the clouds and reach the tomb. Kalanor seemed to be struggling in my lone hand so I cupped him into a small box using both hands. Then I broke through the clouds into the open sky. It was just an endless stretch of blue as the sun had risen in Brightscale, while the tomb sat above Raywynne far to the east of Sailiance. It would take at least a good few hours to reach the tomb.

I reached up and placed Kalanor on my back and told him to hold on and rest, the trip would be a long and boring one. I looked back within only minutes of placing him on my back to see him passed out. Merely turning to face the endless sky I sped up hoping to be done with this as soon as possible. Kalanor looked nothing like a traitor or somebody that would be even looking for power. The thought that such a young child could become King was unthinkable. He looked to be only sixteen or seventeen years old.

**********

"We've arrived." I said calmly, setting the purple Tatorak down on the stone ledge sticking out from the chamber. He stretched his hands into the air and let out a large yawn before he turned and gave a heavy sigh. He slowly walked forward entering the dark chamber.

(Kala)

"He-hello? Is anybody here?" I said softly warily stepping deeper into the chamber. A large perfectly round black stone sat on a pedestal in the center of the chamber. The stone seemed to be staring within your soul, cutting through your thoughts like a dagger.

"Hahaha. Welcome Kala. I have long been waiting to meet you. I'm sure you know who I am?"

I nodded and took a few steps back; the power within the voice seemed to echo off every stone that made the chamber. Suddenly as if by some supernatural force the stone began to glow, and a black aura formed around the stone.

"I'm sure then that you know of my great powers, and how those that have assisted me are greatly rewarded. I have a request to make of you. You see I have the ability to see into the future but only the futures of those who lives I'll directly effect. You see the reason I knew about you is that in the future you come up here to kill me and succeed. So I had to enact a plan to somehow prevent my death, but I could do nothing while trapped in this sphere. So I plotted for nearly ten thousand years I plotted until I finally found a way to prevent my destruction. And you see my plan has already worked."

I backed away an spun on my heel sprinting towards the chamber exit. However just as I came close to freedom an invisible barrier sprung up and knocked me back. I stared up and pounded the barrier with my fists.

"Salifor help! Salifor please help me!" I screamed in terror. But Salifor only looked into the chamber ignoring me completely as if he was working for Apokkel.

"He can't see or hear you. He far underestimates how much power I have even while trapped within this orb. I have formed a mirage that he sees and hears. By the time I am done with you here, you will have fallen to me, and my path to freedom will begin."

"Even when you've killed me, somebody else will come to kill you. My brother will make sure you die for killing me."

"Haha kill you? Why would I kill you? You have no idea how powerful you truly are. The gods have graced you with a gift, something many would consider a miracle. The Elemental Gems, I'm sure you've heard of them, are so powerful any creature that were to use them would be killed by the immense power given off by the Gems. You however have an ability to use a Gem. That is why I needed you to come here."

"Wait the Elemental Gems? I thought those were just part of a fairytale? Did Humans and Demons really exist?"

"You fool of course they did! Although I do understand how flawed your world has become, and I know the story you learn about what happened and how it is perceived as a fairytale. Well you would be semi correct for that story is an altered version made to try and make the truth seem more false. Earth was not created by the Humans, but it already existed. The Twilight Realm was well known as well and Twilight magic was quite frequently known. Humans spent so much time on Earth they had lost the ability to use magic. So I led the Demons against them to kill all Humans life. Because they had no magic to fight with they were decimated. They would have been wiped out had the remaining races not risen up. One representative from each race worked with the Humans to create the Elemental Gems which these eight representatives used to fight against my legion. However these gems still contained just regular magic and weren't special. However my opposite, Ariasa helped them. She sacrificed herself to give the Elemental Gems immense power, and created two Twilight Gems in the process. However the energy of one Gem was taken out and out into the other which is why the Twilight Gem is so strong. The empty shell was then used to trap me in the future. But then these eight representatives sent all the Humans to Earth and sealed off the Twilight Realm from both sides, trapping the Demons inside along with all of the Elemental Gems but two. The Opal of Darkness and the Citrine of Light. The Opal was kept on Sailiance while the Citrine on Earth. Then I was locked up here, and the two worlds have never heard contact from each other and remained isolated. However the Elemental Gems are so powerful they can open a temporary Twilight Portal which will take you to either the Twilight Realm or Earth."

"And you want me to help you get this Opal and take you to the Twilight Realm so you can be free again and lead the Demons to Earth to kill the Humans? Never, I would never help you."

"You are such a fool to think of me as some monster who only wishes to murder. When you obtain the Opal it will give you immense powers, which you will use to kill Salifor and steal my orb. However the rest of my plan shall remain unknown to you."

"And how will you force me to do this? You can't, you’re trapped within that-"

The aura that had appeared suddenly flashed black and shot forward like a bolt of lightning striking me and sending me crashing into the ground. The aura billowed around my body before it flowed inside my body and began to consume every inch of my insides.

You may think that I am merely controlling you, but alas that is impossible from within this sphere. You are still free to do as you wish, however your priorities have changed drastically. You now serve me, knowing completely what you are doing, for your entire personality has changed. At first you only notice a slight change but as the magic takes effect you will notice what I have done. Now be gone, go and fulfill my request.

The room suddenly went silent, Apokkel had gone silent. Salifor was beckoning for me to hurry so he could take me away from this place as quickly as possible as I didn't need to be here for any longer. I felt the need to scream and warn him of the coming danger, but my body was unwilling to listen. The worst part was, I enjoyed knowing that I would soon kill Salifor.

Chapter 3: (Kal)

Everybody was worried. It had been a weak since Kala had returned from Norden, being forced by King Cormag to meet with Apokkel. Ever since that meeting something had changed, Kala was different. He seemed to care less about things, shrugging off responsibilities, only caring to train and get back better with his sword.

We all feared something was coming, and Kala was being drawn into it. But he wasn't the same; he was darker, more moody and secluded keeping to himself most of the time. Whenever somebody tried to speak with him, he either walked away ignoring you, or turned and insulted you for being weaker than him and walked off.

Then it happened. Outside in the school courtyard, after school, Kala walked over to our teams dueling team and challenged them all. They laughed saying he hadn't even come close to being able to join the teams at try-outs and they didn't want to waste their time with him.

He shouted at them, and insulted them, before the team captain Lanco accepted his challenge. The battle was over within seconds. Kala had easily defeated Lanco with three sword swings. The first smashed the sword to the ground, the second knocked it out of Lanco's hands and the third had Kala pointing his sword towards Lanco's neck claiming victory.

They didn't use metal blades, just wooden sticks so they wouldn't harm each other, but Kala had proven a point. He was far stronger than before and anybody that got in his way would easily learn the hard way. Not even I had been able to beat Lanco in a duel, but I had been able to best Kala. Now though I wasn't so certain.

"Hey Kal could I get you to stay after class for a few minutes?” I need to discuss something with you." stated Mr. Adluko as the bell rang and everybody shuffled out of the dark classroom.

"Uh yeah sure. What is it?" I asked calmly, knowing well that this was most likely about Kala.

"Have you spoken with Kala lately, about his visit with Apokkel?"

"No, he wouldn't talk with anybody about it. I tried to persist but he ignored me."

"Hmm, I am worried for him. This behavior isn't natural, he hasn't been doing any assignments and he's been skipping half my classes."

"I think he's just stressed out about the whole having to meet with Apokkel thing. Nobody has met with him before, so for Kala to be asked to go up there has to be leaving something heavy on his mind. Just give him time and he'll come around."

"I can only hope you are correct. Just please, keep on eye on him. For all of us."

"Yeah I will."

Mr. Adluko turned to his papers, and waved his hand dismissing me. I sighed and walked out of the classroom, into the courtyard. Selena took their waiting for me, she looked worried. I feared something had happened.

"Selena is something wrong? You look worried."

"Yeah, I tired talking with Kala and he just ignored me. Then Lanco and some others from the dueling team grabbed him and took him into the forest behind the school. I'm worried."

"For Kala? He'll be fine."

"No for Lanco and the others. I think Kala will really hurt them this time. You saw how quickly he was able to defeat Lanco before."

"Fine then let's go see how he's doing then? Kala isn't stupid though he wouldn't hurt them unless it was in self defense."

"Yeah but Lanco is stupid enough to do something stupid."

Sighing I walked around the school to the forest entrance. It was a rather large forest that stretched all around the little town, many children would go play in the forest during the day as long as they stayed within sight. The forest was home to monsters of various sorts so the children had to be careful.

As we entered the forest though we soon found Kala and Lanco along with other members of the dueling team. Kala stood on one side of a small clearing with Lanco and the others on the other side. All of them had sticks in hand ready to battle.

"Kala you embarrassed me before at the school. Now I'll get my revenge on you for that."

Lanco bolted forward and Kala simply raised his sword and struck Lanco's arm before stepping to the side and jabbing him in the back. The other members of the dueling team then charged ahead all of them running for Kala, blades ready to strike.

Like an acrobat Kala jumped high into the air flipping over and striking somebody in the face with his sword, sending him to the ground in pain. Kala landed low and spun around swinging his sword like a whip smashing into the legs of another member.

Kala let out a growl, and then moved to the offensive, running through the crowd of eight standing members dancing with his blade, before he emerged from the crowd, and looked down to the ground. All eight of them collapsed to the ground, marks on their bodies where Kala had struck them.

Standing up Lanco glared at Kala. Then saw his team fallen behind Kala. Lanco took a step back, then raised his hand high and a bolt of lightning fell from the sky striking Kala.

Not expecting the attack he collapsed on the ground in pain. His eyes now glowed with a fierce rage in them. I'd never seen Kala so angry before. He slowly stood up from the ground still slightly stunned by the attack and shot forward and smashed his blade into Lanco.

However Lanco was expecting this, and quickly blocked and shocked Kala again, this time with a smaller bolt of lightning. Kala fell to his knee this time and looked up at Lanco who was smirking.

"That was a dirty trick, you wanted a sword duel and that's what I came here for. If you're going to cheat by using magic then I'm done."

"Haha, the best duelers learn to use both magic and blade as one combined weapon something you don't know to. In our first little spat you caught me off guard. This time I knew the skills you had, you won't best me again."

Lanco's hand raised and Kala was struck by another bolt of lightning. He let out a deep groan as he fell to the ground again. Kala weakly looked up at him, before he pushed himself up right and glared towards Lanco.

"Not this time Lanco. Not again."

Kala's body suddenly became surrounded by a fierce black aura and he let out a deep roar. His eyes flashed red, and he began to float in the air. His hands raised high above his hand forming a dark purple sphere of energy with dark red flashes of energy bouncing around it.

"Let's see how you like magic!" Kala shouted throwing the sphere at Lanco. It shot through the air making a shrill whistling sound. When it touched Lanco it exploded with a deep thunderous boom sending him flying high into the air crashing into a nearby tree.

The aura around his body vanished and Kala lowered to the ground. He picked up his sword and turned to leave. Selena and I had been standing on the outside just watching, not wanting to let Kala know we had followed him. The two of us quickly ducked behind a bush as he approached, waiting for him to pass by before we emerged.

"What, what was that?" Selena asked looking over to Lanco, he was still not moving.

"I, I honestly don't know. Kala and I have never been good with magic, Lanco is better than us at magic and he was using low level spells. Kala used something I've never seen him do before; I didn't even know he could use magic. The swordplay he was using? That was far more advanced than he's ever used before."

We waited for a few minutes to see if Lanco would move, and when he finally stirred we sighed and left the clearing ourselves, not wanting to be around in case Kala decided to come back. But he never did come back. When we asked around nobody had seen Kala.

Nobody had seen Kala, and by the next morning we knew he was gone. Kala had vanished from Raylea.

Chapter 4: (Kal)

It was late, perhaps too late for somebody such as myself to be walking around the town after what my brother had done. But I needed answers now. Kala was still gone; it had been over a week. Something was wrong, Apokkel was doing something to Kala I knew it had to be true.

I just needed to find out what was going on. Only one person I knew would be able to give me the information to save my brother. Mr. Adluko. I approached his small hut in the center of town and tapped lightly on the door. I stood waiting, constantly glancing around the town it was do dark and ominous in the middle of the night.

Within a few moments the door opened to reveal the tired old face of Mr. Adluko.

"Kal, what brings you here at so late of hour?"

"I need some questions answered. Questions that I fear cannot wait any longer."

Mr. Adluko sighed and ushered me inside, leading me into the dark living area. He showed me to a seat and I quietly sat down sending a cloud of dust into the air. From his fingers shot a small ember into the fireplace setting it ablaze instantly. The large fire crackled sending an orange flickering glow across the dimly lit room.

"So what questions do you need answered?" he asked solemnly trying to mask a yawn.

"I need to know about, The Legend of Twilight, and a certain type of magical attack."

"Well The Legend of Twilight you already know much about from my lessons and the test you took scored perfect so you know everything I know. As for magical attacks, I'm not really in the know how of them aside from minor spells to assist in everyday life."

"No, please don't. I know you’re lying to me. You know a lot more about the Legend of Twilight than you let on, and I'm willing to bet you'll know this magical spell as well."

"Humph boy, don't barge into my house in the middle of the night and then call me a liar. And fine then, try me, what spell is this?"

"A black aura surrounds the spell caster, and then they form a dark purple sphere in their hands with red energy all around it. They also levitate in the air while using the spell." I said swallowing deeply as I saw the expression of Mr. Adluko change from a bit of anger to bewilderment.

"This spell...who...who used it?" he said suddenly after just staring into his hands for what felt like hours.

I stared at him for a few seconds before I got the courage to say the name, the one word binding him forever to this act.

"Kala."

Mr. Adluko's face went dark as he sunk into his chair, shock and awe filled his face. He then glared up at me, and stood up walking across the dark room and opening up a small chest, before pulling out a sword. It gleamed in the light of the fire, looking brand new. The blade was sharp and clean, a deep silver color, the hilt was a deep golden yellow, glistening brightly. A small light yellow Citrine was set in between the blade and hilt, dancing in the fire's glow.

"Get comfortable this tale I have to tell is a rather long one. First off you know me as Etuan Adluko, however back in my time I was simply known as Adluko."

"Your time period? What do you mean?"

"Don't interrupt me Kal. I will address all of your concerns when I am done. The Legend of Twilight is partially true as you may have already guessed. Only two mortals from that time period are still alive to this day, I and the guardian dragon Salifor. You see Earth was never created, it already existed as did Sailiance and we knew of this. However we had no methods to travel between the two worlds. Eventually Apokkel and the Demons tried to eliminate the Human race. One from each of the magical races left, Tatorak, Shade, Elf, Savona, Kikanulan, Dwarf, Kralka, and Orc grouped together to try and find a method to stop Apokkel. They knew of the Human's attempts to use crystal with bits of magic to fight back and had been proving successful, with the crystal giving them extraordinary amounts of magical power far greater than that of the magical races. Together those eight using the great magical power they already had were able to create magical crystal of such great power they could decimate small towns with the correct knowledge. However in combat they still lacked the ability to turn the tides against the Demons and Apokkel who could easily counter with powerful magic spells of their own. Apokkel had infused each of the Demons with powerful magical abilities stemming from the hidden ninth element Twilight. Anyways these eight then went looking for Apokkel's counterpart, Ariasa to obtain help. They eventually found her and managed to persuade her to help them. She took the eight gems already made and using the magic of Twilight extended the power they contained to a fierce level giving those that used them powers that could halt a god. Ariasa also created two more gifts, a black orb of pure Twilight, and a gem of Twilight magic, creating a ninth elemental gem. Using these newly powered crystals and the Twilight Gem the Elemental Gems were created. Sapphire of Water, Emerald of Nature, Ruby of Fire, Topaz of Lightning, Diamond of Ice, Garnet of Earth, Citrine of Light and Opal of Darkness. The nine Elemental Gems were used to fight back and eventually defeat the Demons and seal Apokkel within the Twilight Orb. In the process the Twilight Gem had ripped apart holes in the world which led to Earth through a passageway known as the Twilight Realm. The Humans not feeling safe anymore in Sailiance left to live away from magic on Earth. The remaining races including the Demons began to investigate the Twilight Realm finding it more than a simply passageway between the two worlds but a small third world with three separate levels. One level was a simple passageway leading between Earth and Sailiance. However the second and third levels were small worlds, one seemed to be very similar to the magic of Twilight itself while the other was a world seemingly blooming with Elemental magic of all sorts. Soon however it was discovered the Demons were plotting a raid on the Human race by stealing the Elemental Gems and killing them all to take Earth. The Demons were sealed within the Twilight level of the Twilight Realm forever trapped unable to harm the Humans. However because of the alluring calls from the Elemental Gems they were deemed to dangerous to keep on Sailiance. Aside from the Opal and Citrine the Elemental Gems were hidden away in the Elemental level of the Twilight Realm, each with a guardian to prevent thieves from getting the Gems. However they then sealed the Twilight Gem with the other gems needing all of the remaining eight Gems in order to obtain it, making it almost impossible to steal. However when that was done, the Twilight Realm was sealed off, nothing could travel between Earth and Sailiance anymore, without the Twilight Gem the worlds were once again separated and the Elemental Gems lost forever. Or so was thought. The Citrine of Light and Opal of Darkness were stolen before they could be sealed away, the Opal was trapped in Sailiance while the Citrine on Earth, and without being able to travel to Earth nobody knows what has happened to them and vice versa. However when Apokkel was sealed away, Ariasa vanished never to be seen again. Now how I fit into this equation. I was the Tatorak who made the Citrine of Light. Using the gems so much gave us all immortality, and I have taken it upon myself to make sure things are never truly forgotten albeit in an untrue way. The others perished long ago though, murdered or poisoned, many took the glamor of being heroes to much and it led to their deaths. Now, onto that magic spell. The Demons working with the Darkness were seen to be using a spell very similar to that constantly throughout the battles, presumably a powerful spell taught to them by Apokkel. My worst fear has come true. Apokkel has found a way to manipulate people through his prison and has taken over Kala, why though I do not know. I do fear though that Kala will soon try to free Apokkel, and will need to reach me in order to do so as I am the last known person who knows the truth about the Human race. However now you do as well. I have longed to return to the heavens and be with my departed family and soon my time will come. This blade was my own during the war, and now it shall be yours. Use it well Kal."

"I am honestly overwhelmed now. I don't know what to think. Kala evil? That's just not possible."

"Of course its not. He wouldn't normally do that. However Apokkel can change the views and priorities of the weak minded and insecure, Kala may have been smart but he was very self conscious and Apokkel has taken that to his advantage. Kala will not hesitate to kill you when the time comes, you must do the same."

"Kill him? Isn't their some other way to free him?"

"Unless Apokkel frees him or you destroy Apokkel which is impossible, trust me, sealing him away was a last resort we tried hard to kill him, Kala will never be free."

I sighed, this wasn't what I thought would happen. Why Kala? What made him so special? What made Kala so special that Apokkel needed to rip him away from his family and friends?

"Adluko, what, what do you think Apokkel needs Kala for?"

"I can't be certain, but I think Apokkel needs Kala to help him obtain a body. Apokkel wants to be free from the Twilight Orb and needs help to do so. However all of the Elemental Gems are required to free him, which means Apokkel can never be freed. A Twilight Portal needs to be opened to come close to freeing him, and that is impossible without the Twilight Gem."

"So basically Kala is stuck in Sailiance unable to free him?"

"That would be correct, the only way to free him would require new Elemental Gems to be made, but Ariasa would never help Kala now, and Apokkel can't do it from within the Twilight Orb. Now I know I am tired, and you probably as well, so I think this will do for tonight. If you have anymore questions bring them to me, but in the daylight."

Adluko stood up and ushered me outside, and said farewell before slowly closing the door, and locking it tightly. I started walking along the path leading up towards my small house, the newly obtained sword swinging at my side. It was rather heavy, and felt awkward to walk with, but I would have to get used to it sooner or later.

Now I needed to hurry home and get rest, the next few days were sure to be long ones.

(Kala)

I stepped onto the stone platform of Apokkel's tomb and looked forward. Salifor floated in the air in front of Apokkel's sphere guarding it with his life. Ever since word had been sent that I had gone missing he had been put on high alert. For good reason, had he not I may have been able to taken him by surprise and ignored the entire battle that was about to commence.

I had killed the messenger responsible for keeping Salifor in contact with Sailiance, and stolen his steed. The pure black pegasus now stood on the stone floor at the entrance waiting for my return. All I needed to do was simply kill Salifor and take Apokkel's sphere then all would be complete.

Approaching the giant golden dragon I drew out my sword, it was old and not very good, but it was all I had for now. My immense magical powers would be enough to help me defeat Salifor.

"Kala stay back, you don't know what you are dealing with. If you turn back now you can leave with your life."

"Salifor your pathetic, you know very well that I wn't fail and you are merely fighting a lost battle."

He growled then opened his jaws releasing a torrent of golden flames, scalding the stones, but I had already jumped up high and formed a small dark purple sphere of energy in my hand. With ease I raised my arm and flung it forward, and energy ball smashed into Salifor exploding on contact.

The great dragon was angry now and charged forward slashing with his giant claws, but I stepped to the side each time or jumped above his massive claws. Swinging my sword down on his hand at one opportunity I realized just how strong Salifor really was. My sword shattered into a million tiny fragments as the blade made contact with the dragon's golden scales.

"I warned you Kala, there is a reason I am the guardian of the orb, its because nobody has the power to fight me and win!"

"You have no chance Salifor. I don't need a simple blade to battle with you! I have my magic!"

This time I unleashed a flurry of spells. Launching hundreds of small dark purple projectiles at Salifor each exploding as they connected with something. Roaring Salifor fired a stream of gold flames at me again, but I easily dodged, this time jumping forward around the fire, getting close to Salifor.

Absorbing the dark power from within I aimed up and shot a spear of dark energy, striking Salifor's underbelly. He roared violently and squirmed through the air to get away. Where the spell had struck now left a dark mark on his golden scales.

Salifor shot out of the sky, and slashed with his claws missing as I jumped, but he brought his tail around to catch me when I landed. I hit the tomb wall hard, sending bits of cracked stone showering down on my head. Then it happened, it was so sudden and unexpected it caught myself and Salifor off guard.

My entire body became enveloped in a dark purple aura, and my skin changed color going from a pale purple to a dark purple almost black, and horns and spikes sprouted from my body. Three from the top of my skull, and two from each arm, blood red in color.

Roaring I formed another sphere of dark energy this one larger than any before it. It crackled with power, as red sparks coursed over it. Then with one fluid movement it went hurtling from my hands at Salifor. The dragon was unable to avoid the attack and was struck directly in the chest. The resulting explosion was large enough it sent me off my feet.

The entire tomb was now covered in a thick layer of dust from the explosion. I glanced across the room as the dust cleared and looked at the motionless figure of Salifor lying on the ground. His chest burst open from the explosion, blood spilling onto the stone.

"Well done Kala, you've done it. Now take me and we shall act upon the next part of our plan."

Stepping forward I picked up the black sphere and placed it in a bag I had on my back. I walked outside and mounted the flying horse and kicked him into motion flying us towards the ground. I had succeeded in defeating one of the strongest beings in existence and now I was about to become the greatest being to ever live.

The one and only

Chapter 5: (Kal)

Everybody in the town was woken to a loud crashing noise as something struck the ground hard. Everybody culminated into the town square around the large crater, night gowns amass among them all. Within the massive crater was a massive golden body, its scales gleaming in the moonlight. Blood however streaked the golden scales, and a large gaping wound was present in its chest.

The mothers covered the children eyes, and men stepped forward to protect the women and children from any potential dangers. Adluko stepped forward and looked into the giant crater, his face told me everything. This was the guardian dragon Salifor. Kala would soon be returning, I had to prepare. When the time came I couldn't hesitate, I would have to defeat my brother.

But that time never came. A week passed since the corpse of the golden dragon had landed in the town, and still no sign of Kala came. King Cormag had already sent troops to remove the body, and try and repair some of the damages to the town but it wasn't going to be enough. Salifor was massive and his body had wrecked most of the square. Luckily nobody was hurt and no buildings were destroyed.

The disturbing fact though, was the wound that had been made. It was like Salifor's chest had exploded outward, Kala had learned how to control his dark magic quickly, I feared he had found the Opal of Darkness and was using it to make himself stronger. It was the only thing that made sense, how else could he blast a hole through a dragon's chest? A dragon that was supposed to be almost invulnerable to all forms of magic?

Word had arrived from King Cormag a day after Salifor's body was removed that Apokkel's sphere had been stolen and he believed Kala to be the one responsible. I didn't want to believe him and I certainly wouldn't believe him if I hadn't seen Kala attack Lanco so violently.

Then on the tenth day after Salifor crashed into Raylea, Kala came back. It was in the middle of the night, he had simply walked into town, wearing a large black clock and hood to cover his face. He looked like a living shadow moving through the town. But I had to find out what was going on. I had been watching out my window hoping he would simply walk down the road and he finally had, now was my chance to act.

Stepping outside I quietly followed him, the sword at my hip, ready if I needed it. I'd been practicing with it ever since Adluko had given it to me, making sure I could use it in combat and move without making a noise. Stalking Kala was far easier than I imagined it would be, he seemed to be unable to hear me and he barely seemed to be paying any attention to the surrounding world.

He was walking towards Adluko's home when one of his arms rose up. I gasped in shock. Even in the dark I could tell how much he had changed, his pale purple skin had become a dark almost blackish purple, and he two blood red spikes coming out of his arms, one one his shoulder the other further down his arm. He reached into his cloak and pulled out a blade. The metal looked newly forged and was almost as black as night. The red hilt glittered in the moonlight as did the dark purple amethyst set into the hilt.

His other hand reached inside his cloak and pulled out a small black diamond shaped gem. Even from my far distance I knew exactly what it was, the Opal of Darkness resided in his hand. Now Kala was going to finish off Adluko and make sure nobody knew about Apokkel or the gems. But I couldn't let him do that.

"Kala!"

He stopped, and spun around; I could now see the full extent of what Apokkel had done to him. His eyes flashed a dark blood red, instead of their usual pale orange, and he appeared to have spikes protruding from his skull now, but the cloak hid them from view.

"Kal leave here now. This doesn't concern you."

Kill him...

Somewhere, perhaps from everywhere a voice sounded. It was deep and demonic sounding, but had that ominous foreboding to it. Kala seemed to growl towards something near him.

"Kal this is your last warning, get out of here now."

"No. I won't let you hurt Adluko."

He knows things. I can see it in his eyes, kill him now while you have the chance!

"Apokkel why don't you stop hiding and show yourself!"

I'm not hiding you foolish child. Merely watching.

Suddenly a small black figure appeared on Kala's shoulders, it looked more like it was a ghost than anything, like it was physically present. But it had two glowing red spots, presumably eyes near the top of its mass. The black figure then melted off Kala's shoulder and slid across the ground, becoming a snake like figure, but I could tell now it was nothing more than a ghostly mist or aura. Apokkel was freed from his sphere though; Kala had somehow managed to free him without using any other gems aside from the Opal.

"How, how are you free! You should still be trapped within the sphere!"

Foolish child, I am not free. My spirit had just been bound to something else. First that wretched orb where I was unable to move around, and now your brother Kalanor. See you don't need all of the Elemental Gems to free me from the Twilight Orb, just a rock and some good height to drop it and watch it shatter. But my spirit it then bound to whoever broke the orb. The Elemental Gems will give me a new body which is what I need to regain my powers, being a spirit as I am now, prevents me from doing much.

Apokkel still approached however, morphing into a four legged monster, with an arced neck and snapping jaws. Its red glowing eyes continued to shift around its body. I stepped back and drew my blade and swung at Apokkel causing him to recoil to avoid the blade.

Hmm, so you do have some fight in you. Kalanor I suggest you kill him now, before he becomes a thorn in our side.

"Prepare to die brother, you missed your chance."

"Kala you don't have to do this! Don't let Apokkel force you to do this!"

"Force me? You’re pathetic; I'm doing this of my own free will!"

Kala stepped forward and threw his cloak to the side, revealing his head, three blood red spikes sprouted from his head, and the two spikes from his shoulders gave him an equally menacing look. He was wearing thick black leather armor on his chest, and leather pants as well. He was prepared for battle.

Running forward Kala quickly jumped high and swung his blade down fast and hard. I met his blade with a block raising my own blade up to meet his. He pulled back and spun around quickly jabbing at my legs, but I jumped back smacking his blade away. I stepped forward and jabbed, but he jumped up high flipping in midair landing behind me. I dropped to the ground just as his blade jabbed forward; it hung in midair where my back had once been.

I rolled over, kicking out my legs tripping him in the process. Kala let out a low growl, as he stood back up. He had placed the Opal in a small pocket in his armor, and had now brought it out ready to strike. The Opal seeing it now up close seemed to be different than I would have thought it to be. Apokkel seemed to be dark purple and blood red, while the Opal was black with very dark blue hues.

The Opal flashed brightly and a bolt of black energy shot out and struck my leg. I gasped in pain and dropped my sword as a violent shock was sent through my leg. Such a small attack had been launched from the tiny black gem it was amazingly powerful. But I had to fight back; I couldn't let Kala win, not now not ever.

Flashing again another bolt shot at my body, this time I was ready and jumped out of the way and launched the strongest spell I knew. A small white orb appeared in the air and flew towards Kala, exploding as it made contact with him sending a shower of small white crystal around him.

"Is that what you call a magical attack? Pathetic you know. I really expected better from you, yo were always besting me in sword battles but now you've simply fallen behind and can't keep up. I was hoping to get a decent challenge from you, but you've gotten lazy. Dad would scold you for slacking so much."

That was the last straw. Apokkel would pay for turning Kala into such a monster, but first I needed to defeat Kala. If I couldn't achieve that then all would be lost. I ran forward my sword ready and swung down hard and quickly began striking at Kala with my sword, dancing around him as he tried to defend himself. Despite having all the magical power in the world, if he didn't get any chance to use it then it was useless.

Within seconds Kala was disarmed and his sword was stuck into the ground. He stood his only weapon the Opal of Darkness, ready to fight, magic against blade. Rushing forward and swung my blade down and immediately regretted that decision. Kala released an immense explosion of dark energy from around him knocking me back sending my sword far from where I landed.

Kala walked forward casually and plucked his sword from the ground and glared down at me. His eyes flashed with malice as he raised the blade above his head. His arms loosened and he swung down, my eyes slammed shut not willing to see the blade make contact with my body.

THWACK!

My eyes snapped open to see Kala stumble over; an arrow had been shot into his side knocking him off balance, though the arrow had been unable to pierce his armor. We both stared towards the archer; standing tall ready to enter the battle was Adluko.

Kala turned his attention towards his original target and raced towards him. Adluko was agile for his age, but I suppose being immortal would free you from the pains of growing old. He avoided Kala's first swing and then struck hard with a magical spell sending a spear of light into Kala knocking him back.

"Kal grab your sword and flee!" Adluko shouted as he and Kala continued to battle. I scrambled to my feet and grabbed my sword and ran, never once glancing back. I had to pack something small. Just so I could survive on my own for a few days. Quickly running inside my house I grabbed a bag and filled it with food and warm clothing to help me survive in the wilderness.

Then the explosion came. Looking out of my window I could see the smoke and red glow coming from the town, around where Adluko and Kala had been battling. Fearing the worst I took my bag and ran outside making a mad dash along the path hoping to out run Kala for long enough to escape.

But the dark magic had given Kala extreme abilities and he was soon on my tail. I turned to face him again, and noticed his blade, no longer black as night but stained red with blood. I knew already Adluko was dead.

"So this is where you make your final stand. I was expecting more out of you Kal, but what can I say you were always a pathetic and unreliable excuse of a life." he growled, the poison in his voice growing stronger with every word he chanted.

I knew I couldn't run, neither could I fight. Kala had the complete advantage, the only thing I had on my side was Adluko providing a distraction but now he was dead and I had nowhere left to go. Kala stepped forward the Opal of Darkness in his hand and he sheathed his sword and lifted the gem above his head.

It crackled with life as a black sphere of shadow energy formed in the air. He threw it forward and like an instinct I lifted up my hand and shot forward a spell of my own. The little white sphere collided with the black sphere and imploded on itself. Using the small cloud of dust as cover I made one last effort and raced forward stabbing with my blade. I hit something and heard Kala let out a roar of rage.

Then my blade exploded with energy in my hand and I was blasted high into the air, with the blade falling from the sky landing dangerously beside my head. I looked up and saw Kala on the ground blood had pooled around him from where my sword had struck. But that wasn't what concerned him. The small tear in the air itself concerned him more.

It was mere sliver of silver light randomly in the air. Kala ignored it and raised the Opal again shooting off a bolt of lightning towards me, but the bolt was pulled towards the silver strip, and suddenly exploded. The silver line in midair ripped apart forming a floating hole in the world itself.

"Wha-what is that?" I shouted loudly as the tear in space began to absorb dirt and rocks around it, I could feel its gravity increasing quickly. Kala then glanced towards me and fired off a bolt of dark lightning striking right in my chest. I was sent into the air by the attack and quickly caught by the silver hole's gravity.

What have you done! You've opened a portal to the Twilight Realm! Stay back, don't get to clo-

Apokkel was cut off as Kala fell to his knees, the stab I had made weakened him greatly and he fell victim to the Twilight Portal's powerful grip. I could no longer resist and stopped trying to pull myself away and with ease the portal absorbed Kala, Apokkel and I.

Just as quickly as it had begun it came to and end, the portal closed sealing us within the Twilight Realm. The passageway we were trapped in moved quickly, whipping us around, Kala was unconscious but his wound glowed brightly as the Twilight magic surrounding us healed his wounds. I glanced at the various wounds over my own body and watched as silver light enveloped them and they vanished from my body completely healed.

Then I saw it, two separate tunnels one leading down, the other up, but we were moving far to quickly to head down either of the tunnels, and passed them quickly. The only destination left was Earth. Who knows how much had changed since the Humans had left.

The portal then ended so quickly it was as though you had been punched in the gut repeatedly. We were shot out in the dark night sky, in a large silver explosion sending Kala and Apokkel off in one direction as I fell in another. Looking down I saw the ground far below and realized I was falling from the sky.

I knew that if I were to survive this fall I would end up paralyzed so I had to make sure I died upon impact. Except that I had failed to notice the large dam of water which I landed in instead. Just narrowly missing the stone wall keeping the water in.

I swam to shore, and got out of the water and looked around. Just from first glance the Human world was already different. It seemed technology had more influence over the world than nature did. The dam was made of some flat perfectly shaped gray stone. Metal poles stood on both sides, with metal forming a thin see through barrier.

I sighed not wanting to let myself be seen if any Human were to show up, I ran into the nearby forest to wait until morning. For now I needed rest. Then I would explore Earth and perhaps find some help to face off against Kala.
